Submarine Models by Bernie Wood (UK)
This is my great mate, Bernie Wood. I
first came into contact with Bernie in 1985, after meeting him through the
Association Of Model Submariners in the UK. At the time I was a novice with all
things that submerged. Bernie's suggestions and encouragement were of immense
help to me, as was his wonderful friendship, the more we got to know one
another. It was never too much trouble for him to explain in words and diagrams,
just how he went about achieving his goals. I had the good fortune of meeting
him and his wonderful family in 1986, while I was in the UK for a holiday. I was
worried that I would not fit into his family and that we might not have anything
in common. How wrong I was! It was like coming home and until this day I
remember with fondness my time spent with the Wood's family.
Bernie recently passed away and left a lot of people much better off for having
known him. I am not just talking about the people he helped with submarine
models, but all the people who came in contact with him. There are very few GOOD
people we have the opportunity to meet in our lives. Bernie was definitely one
of these people. He will be sadly missed.
